On Not Taking My Own Advice {aka Why I Haven't Been Blogging}
I admit it. I haven't been taking my own advice. Remember when I wrote about 5 ways to make time for blogging? Yeah, that was almost two months ago. And I've published two posts since then.
This became glaringly obvious to me when I was on a call with a client the other day. I directed him to my blog to show him a concept that I was describing. And there it was, plain as day. My last post was very-not-recently published. Of course I was aware that I was spending my time on other things. But, well, sometimes we're so able to ignore the things we're aware of when it's convenient to do so.
The truth is, the very same things I coach my clients through are the things I've been struggling with myself.
I can tell myself that all the time I've been spending for my clients -- and recruiting new clients -- has crowded out my time for blogging. Just like my clients tell me that the business of running their business, or being their band, or just life, leaves no time to write. But I know from my altMBA experience that I can do more. I can always do more than I think I can. If I'm clear on my priorities, if I schedule my time accordingly, and if I manage that schedule without hesitation, I can do all the things I know I want to do and should do and must do.
So, as we head into the very busy months that start with Halloween and then leave me feeling like I'm rolling downhill and gathering speed as I blow through Thanksgiving, our annual family holiday party, Christmas, and New Year's, I'm also recommitting myself to blogging here.
I want to thank everyone who's commented on my posts on Twitter & Instagram, as you've helped me keep my drive to continue sharing my ideas and learning moments here. (I promise to get back to posting there soon, too.)
Now it's your turn. Do you have examples of not taking your own advice?
